Theodoros (Theo) Michalopoulos

Theodoros (Theo) Michalopoulos is representing and consulting multinational companies, HNWI individuals and asset managers in complex international white collar crime cases more than three decades.

He completed his studies at the National Kapodistrian University of Athens (EKPA) and specialized in multi-jurisdictional crime at Freie Universitaet (FU) Berlin.

He is a pioneer in using criminal law in complex international economic cases and has represented through the years shipping companies, UHNWI individuals and multinational companies in serious fraud and asset recovery cases worldwide.

Representing ship owners wishing to buy ships and shipyards and companies like adidas, Reebok, Salomon, Versace, Ralph Lauren, Cavalli etc. in their effort to produce and distribute in China and South-East Asia, he organized their defense against serious fraudsters and recovered on their behalf very large sums of assets.

During this time, he organized a network of excellent professionals (law firms and investigators) in China and South-East Asia which he immediately, because international serious fraudsters act everywhere, extended in the USA, South America, Europe and the Caribbean. Theo has represented his clients managing cases in the P.R. of China, Singapore, Vietnam, Hong Kong, Macau, Germany, France, the UK, Ireland, Switzerland, Luxemburg, Belgium, Liechtenstein, South Africa, Brazil, Mexico, Monaco, the Netherlands, Bahamas, Italy, BVI, Russia, Panama, approx. 20 US states, all of South-East Europe states etc.

He is constantly evaluating the performance of members of this inofficial network using new law firms and investigators if needed.

The past decade since international and national banks started freezing illegally the assets of UHNWI individuals, he organized the recovery of very large sums by his clients and he consulted and is constantly consulting UHNWI and asset managers how to securely and legally invest their assets in various jurisdictions worldwide.

Theo is an experienced and skilled criminal trial lawyer and representing his clients before the Greek appeal and supreme (Areopag) courts in serious white collar crime cases, and also, pro bono, in selected human rights cases, is a top priority for him.

He speaks English, German and Greek.

He is married and father of three daughters.
